Who is family swimming for?
Family swimming is designed for two children and two adults — for example, parents, grandparents, or other adults the child knows and trusts. One child and one adult may also take part. For safety reasons, each child must be accompanied by their own adult (1 child / 1 adult).
Family swimming also works well for siblings who want to swim together. No prior swimming experience is required, for either children or adults.
Where is family swimming held in Helsinki?
FitPit's family swimming sessions are held in the private warm-water pool at Valkea talo in Haaga, Helsinki. Because it's a private pool, there are no public swimmers in the water. Please note that other FitPit customers may be using the pool at the same time.
Family swimming or swim school?
In family swimming, children swim together with their own adult, making it a good fit for a child who's getting used to the water for the first time or needs a trusted adult by their side. Once a child is ready to learn to swim without an adult in the water, the next step is children's swim school.
How learning to swim progresses on FitPit's swimming path:
Build a good relationship with water in family swimming
Starting to swim at an early age supports learning to swim later on and increases water safety.
In family swimming, children practice basic swimming skills, diving, floating, and gliding. The swimming instructor adapts exercises to the children's age and skill level.
Why is family swim school a good hobby for children?
Quality time for the whole family: both parents and siblings can join in, with no prior swimming or water experience needed.
Motor skills and confidence: in a safe environment, children develop their motor skills and gain the confidence to act independently in the water.
Adults learn too: family swimming helps parents better understand the stages of learning to swim and how to support their child's progress.
Warm private pool: 32°C water and a calm setting make the experience comfortable for children.
